The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Up in northeastern Alaska, there is a 1.5 million acres stretch of coastal plains whose fate is hanging in the balance.  Oil developers want to open this area up for oil development, believing that there is a vast supply of oil there,  while conservationists want to see the area preserved indefinitely to protect the great biodiversity that is there.  This is a debate that has been ongoing for decades.
